At single-family homes you can use charcoal and propane grills in your yard year-round, even during burn bans. In apartments and condos, Florida's fire code bans charcoal and propane grills on balconies and within 10 feet of the building; only small listed electric grills are allowed.

For other than one- and two-family dwellings, no hibachi, grill, or other similar devices used for cooking, heating, or any other purpose shall be used or kindled on any balcony, under any overhanging portion, or within 10 ft (3 m) of any structure.
Barrel-style barbecue smokers are allowed at single-family homes and remain permitted even during a countywide burn ban. In apartments and condos, smokers count as prohibited cooking devices and cannot be used on balconies or within 10 feet of the building.
