Dark Sky Rules
Zoning Ordinance 62 defines "Dark Sky Compliant" lighting as illumination that restricts upward-directed light, avoids glare and over-lighting, uses dimming controls, and minimizes short-wavelength light at night. Section 6.12.B.3.c applies that standard to outdoor sign lighting countywide, requiring downward, back-lighted, internally lighted or otherwise dark-sky-compliant fixtures "to the greatest extent possible" unless a site-specific reason limits it.
