Quiet Hours

In the unincorporated residential zones of Ventura County, Section 6299-1 bars loud or raucous noise that is audible to the human ear from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. of the following day, measured at 50 feet from the property line of the noise source. Section 6299-2(c) limits that term to two classes: radios, musical instruments and other sound equipment, and lawn mowers, blowers, edgers, tractors and other mechanical or electrical devices or hand tools.

Construction Hours

In the unincorporated coastal zone of Ventura County, outdoor construction within, abutting, or adjacent to an ESHA noise sensitive receptor is prohibited after sunset. Construction noise also has to meet the noise threshold in Section 8178-2.6.16. The rule does not apply inside Oxnard, Ventura, Port Hueneme, or any other incorporated city.

Amplified Music & Outdoor Sound

In Ventura County Parks, no one can run a sound amplification device that carries more than 100 feet from the equipment without a sound amplification device permit from the Parks Director or Lease Operator.
