Ventura County Ordinance Code §6299-1 prohibits loud or raucous noise in residential zones between 9 PM and 7 AM. The standard applies to sound audible at 50 feet from the property line, covering amplified music, TVs, lawn equipment, and power tools.
Section 6299-1 (Ord. 4124, adopted 12/10/96) prohibits any person from creating loud or raucous noise audible to the human ear at a distance of 50 feet from the property line during 9 PM to 7 AM in residential zones. The ordinance applies to all zones designated R-1, R-2, R-P-D, R-O, R-E, and their coastal equivalents (C-R-1, C-R-2, C-R-P-D, C-R-E). Covered noise sources include radios, musical instruments, TVs, phonographs, amplifiers, lawn mowers, backpack blowers, edgers, riding tractors, and any mechanical or electrical device. Government entities and public utilities are exempt. Violations are classified as misdemeanor/infraction under §13-1.
