Jurupa Valley´s Municode-published code does not list a standalone city juvenile curfew chapter. The Riverside County juvenile curfew at Chapter 9.12 of the County Code applies in the unincorporated areas the city was carved out of in 2011, and continues to inform enforcement practice. The County curfew prohibits minors under 18 from being in any ´public place or establishment´ between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (the following morning), with the standard list of exceptions (accompanied by parent, returning from work/school/religious activity, emergency, on errand at parent´s direction, exercising First Amendment rights). Daytime truancy is enforced by Riverside County Sheriff and Cal Ed Code §48260 et seq.
Riverside County Code Chapter 9.12 (Curfew) defines ´curfew hours´ as 10:00 p.m. on any day until 6:00 a.m. the next day and ´minor´ as any person under 18. The standard six-pillar Bellotti/Hutchins exceptions apply. After Jurupa Valley incorporated in 2011, the city has not (as of the most recently codified Ord 2025-23) adopted a replacement juvenile-curfew chapter; enforcement on the ground is by Riverside County Sheriff´s Jurupa Valley Station, which is the city´s contract police agency. Cal. Welfare & Institutions Code §625 authorizes peace officers to take a minor into temporary custody for curfew violation; minors are typically released to a parent/guardian without prosecution on first offense.
First offense is generally an infraction with a fine up to $100; subsequent offenses can escalate to $200/$500 plus mandatory parental conference and possible referral to Probation. Parents/guardians can be cited under contributing-to-delinquency theories for repeat violations.
