Under Lodi's juvenile curfew ordinance in LMC Title 9, it is unlawful for any minor under the age of 18 to be in or upon any public street, sidewalk, alley, or other public place between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The curfew does not apply to: minors accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult; minors performing a legitimate errand directed by a parent or guardian; minors traveling directly to or from a place of employment, a school function, or a place of public amusement with the knowledge and consent of the parent or guardian; and minors exercising First Amendment-protected activity. Lodi Police may detain minors believed to be in violation, with parents or guardians notified to retrieve them.
Curfew violations are typically handled as infractions under LMC Title 9, with citations to the minor and notification to parents. Repeat violations may be referred to juvenile court. Parents may be cited under LMC parental-responsibility provisions if they knowingly permit violation.
