Twin Falls County, ID Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

M. Nine exceptions keep a minor from violating the curfew: being with a parent or guardian, being with an adult the parent authorized, exercising First Amendment rights after filing written notice with the person the Sheriff designates at the county building on Shoshone Street North, being on the sidewalk at home or a next-door neighbor's without an objection, returning home within an hour of a legitimate school, religious, civic, or athletic activity, carrying a certified employment letter reissued within the last 45 days, riding in a vehicle with parental consent (including interstate travel), and any emergency.

Under section 5-4-6, a Sheriff's officer who reasonably believes a juvenile is violating curfew must notify the juvenile, take identifying information, and normally bring the juvenile to the county courthouse where a parent or guardian is called; status offenders cannot be jailed. Both the juvenile and parent sign a written acknowledgment of the curfew rules on release. G expressly excludes enforcement of the whole chapter inside any incorporated municipality in the county, so it governs only the unincorporated area. Section 5-4-7 makes the juvenile's violation a status offense under Idaho's Juvenile Corrections Act, while a parent who knowingly lets the violation happen faces a misdemeanor.
