Apple Valley parks are open dawn to dusk under Municipal Code Section 11.68.050; remaining from dusk to dawn is a violation, with lighted facilities usable until 11:00 p.m. only for scheduled events. A separate town-wide nighttime curfew (Chapter 11.24) bars anyone under 18 from public places, including parks, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The Town of Apple Valley sets park hours in Municipal Code Section 11.68.050 (Use of Park and Recreation Facilities). Unless the Town Manager approves otherwise in writing, parks may be used only from dawn to dusk, and any person who enters, remains, stays, or loiters in a park between dusk and dawn is guilty of a violation. The one exception: parks with outdoor lighted facilities intended for nighttime public use may be used from dawn to 11:00 p.m. when a scheduled nighttime event is being conducted. Park hours are subject to change by the Town Manager. Violations are punishable under Sections 1.01.200-1.01.230, or by administrative citation (infraction) with fines of $25 for a first offense, $50 for a second, and $100 for a third or later offense within 12 months, plus suspension of park-use privileges for at least six months; a parent or guardian of an unemancipated minor is jointly liable for fines. Separately, the Town's nighttime curfew (Chapter 11.24) makes it unlawful for any minor under 18 to loiter, wander, remain, or be in or upon public places, parks, playgrounds, and similar areas during the hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with exceptions for emergencies, being accompanied by a parent/guardian, and other lawful activities. California has no statewide curfew (authority comes from Welfare & Institutions Code 625.5), so these are local Town rules.
Being in a park between dusk and dawn (outside an approved lighted-facility event) is a violation subject to a $25-$100 administrative fine and possible six-month suspension of park privileges. Minors under 18 in public places, including parks, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. violate the Chapter 11.24 curfew.
