Bonita Springs, FL Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 28-44(b) of the Bonita Springs Code says that, except for unusual and unforeseen emergencies and designated holidays, parks shall be open to the public every day of the year. The opening and closing hours for each individual park shall be posted there for public information. The ordinance itself prints no citywide closing time, so the sign at the park is the rule for that park.

Section 28-44(c) gives the parks and recreation director closing power. Any section or part of any park can be declared closed to the public at any time and for any interval, either temporarily or at regular and stated intervals (daily or otherwise). Parks can be closed entirely or for certain uses when the director finds it reasonably necessary to protect the environment or public health, welfare and safety. Entering a posted closed area is a fine-schedule violation of $100, $300 and $500 for a first, second and third offense.

Other sections turn on closing hours or overnight presence. Section 28-37(a) bars sleeping overnight in any area of a city park, including beaches, lawns, fields and wooded areas, except for authorized campers in designated camping areas; the fine is $75, $150 and $300. Section 28-32(e) bars leaving a movable structure or vehicle in a park after closing hours if it is used or could be used for overnight camping, unless the director issues a special written permit. Section 28-42(5) bars launching, retrieving, docking or operating any vessel within a park or littoral waters after the park is closed, also with fines of $75, $150 and $300. Section 28-39(b) requires a vehicle standing at night on a park driveway or road to show lights visible for at least 500 feet from front and rear unless it is in a designated parking area.
