Georgetown city parks are open to the public between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. unless other hours are posted. After-hours use requires posted alternative hours, a lease or rental agreement, or a permit issued by the Parks Director under Chapter 12.20 of the City Code of Ordinances.
The City of Georgetown sets standard hours for its public parks. Per the city's Park Rules, 'City parks shall be open to members of the public between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.' unless other public use or hours have been posted for a specific park or facility, a lease or rental agreement allows after-hours use, or a permit has been issued by the Director authorizing after-hours use. These rules are established under Chapter 12.20 of the City of Georgetown Code of Ordinances. Being in a city park outside the posted hours without authorization is therefore prohibited. The Park Rules also list a range of prohibited activities, including discharging weapons (including air-powered devices and archery equipment), hunting or bow fishing, using glass beverage bottles, cliff jumping or diving, unauthorized commercial activity, and operating motor vehicles off designated roads and parking areas. Dogs must be leashed (six feet maximum) except in designated off-leash areas. Park Event Permits may be required for activities such as extended hours, amplified music, races, animal exhibitions, and food trucks. This park-hours rule is distinct from any general juvenile curfew the city may maintain elsewhere in its code.
Remaining in a city park outside the 5 a.m.β10 p.m. hours without posted authorization, a rental agreement, or a Parks Director permit is prohibited and can result in being asked to leave or cited; violating the listed park-use rules can likewise trigger enforcement.
