Greenwood, IN Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 5-11 of the Greenwood General Ordinances, part of Chapter 5's Article 2 Park Rules and Regulations, sets the operating hours for the City of Greenwood's park system, which includes Craig Park, Old Park, Point Park, City Center Park, Westside Park, Northwest Park Annex, Woodman Park, Freedom Park, University Park, Summerfield Park and Children's Garden Park. During the summer season, Craig Park's later closing accommodates evening programming, while all other parks close an hour earlier at 10:00 p.m. From November 1 through April 30, the parks follow natural dawn-to-dusk hours, and the City may lock gates to parking areas to keep vehicles out overnight even though pedestrian access to daylight areas continues.

Subsection (c) lets the Greenwood Park and Recreation Board issue a written order changing these hours generally or for a specific special occasion, such as an evening festival or fireworks display. Subsection (d) makes it unlawful for any person other than a City employee acting in the course of employment to be in or remain in a park while it is closed, which the Greenwood Police Department and Park Rangers enforce as a trespass-style unlawful entry. Because Section 5-11 does not set its own fine, a violation is punished under the Code's general penalty provision, Section 1-13, and Section 5-10 separately makes it unlawful to violate any Park and Recreation Board rule.
