County of Hawai'i parks are governed by HCC Chapter 15. There is no single island-wide curfew hour; instead the Parks Director sets each park's hours of operation, which are posted on signage at the park. Being in a closed park outside posted hours violates the code.
Under Hawai'i County Code Chapter 15 (Parks and Recreation), Section 15-8 (Parks and recreation facilities; hours of operation), the Director of Parks and Recreation may designate the hours of operation for any park, or any portion or area of a park, by posting signage at the respective park. Some facilities are also available only by use permit. Because hours are set park-by-park, closing times vary between beach parks, ball fields and gyms; residents must check the posted signs at each location. Camping and overnight use require a permit. State parks and beaches on the island follow separate State (DLNR) rules, not Chapter 15.
Remaining in or using a park outside its posted hours, or without a required permit, is a Chapter 15 violation enforced by County parks staff and police, subject to citation and County-code penalties.
