Forest Preserve District of Kane County preserves are open to the public from sunrise to sunset unless different hours are posted. Under General Use Regulation Ordinance No. FP-O-09-95-213, Section 2, Kane County forest preserves are open sunrise to sunset unless the District President posts different hours. Visitors may not remain after closing, and leaving a vehicle overnight or after authorized hours is a separate violation for which the vehicle owner is responsible. The District enforces its rules through its own police under authority of the Illinois forest preserve statute (70 ILCS 805/8). Municipal and county parks set their own posted hours; check signage at each site.
