Louisburg, KS Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

City Code §12-121 makes it unlawful to enter or remain within the boundaries of any Louisburg park facility, defined in §12-104 as Louisburg City Park, Lewis/Young Park, City Lake/Ron Weers Park and the Louisburg Aquatic Center, at any time other than the posted hours of operation for that facility. Subsection (d) adds a specific overnight curfew for the City Park located at 104 S. 5th Street, closing it from midnight to 5:00 a.m. Four exceptions apply: persons acting under a special use permit or special event contract, Board or city employees and contractors performing work for the Board, law enforcement officers performing official duties, and, by extension of other article provisions, organized groups with a Board-approved overnight camping reservation under §12-118.

The Board and the Chief of Police share enforcement authority under §12-102, which gives the Police Department full power to enforce park laws and maintain order. A curfew violation is a Class C violation under §12-147: conviction brings a fine of up to $500, confinement in the city or county jail for up to one month, or both, and the court may add alcohol or drug programming if liquor was involved. Because the posted-hours rule applies facility by facility, residents should check the signage at each specific park, since the Aquatic Center, ballfields and the City Lake grounds can each carry different posted closing times even though the Code fixes the same midnight-to-5-a.m. rule for the 5th Street City Park specifically.
