Per San Leandro Administrative Code Ch. A7 (Park Operating Procedures), all city parks except Chabot Park and the Shoreline are open 8:00 AM–8:00 PM (Oct 31–Apr 30) and 8:00 AM–10:00 PM (May 1–Oct 30). The San Leandro Shoreline Recreation Area is open from one-half hour before sunrise to 10:00 PM; entry outside these hours is prohibited.
San Leandro Administrative Code Chapter A7 (Recreation and Parks), Park Operating Procedures sets two park-hour regimes. STANDARD PARKS (all parks except Chabot Park and the Shoreline Recreation Area): open 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM from October 31 through April 30 (winter), and 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM from May 1 through October 30 (summer). SHORELINE RECREATION AREA: open from one-half hour before sunrise to 10:00 PM daily; the park is closed to all persons between 10:00 PM and one-half hour before sunrise the following morning. Chabot Park has separate hours posted on signage. Being in a park outside posted hours violates the Administrative Code Ch. A7 conduct rules. The park-hours rule applies to ALL persons (not just minors), unlike the §4-1 youth curfew. For minors, the 10 PM nighttime youth curfew and the 8 AM–3 PM daytime school-hours curfew also apply in parks under SLMC Ch. 4-1 Art. 3 — meaning during school hours minors face TWO overlapping prohibitions in parks. Park gates may be locked; vehicles in lots after hours are subject to tow. Special events held after posted hours require a Special Event Permit from the Recreation and Human Services Department.
Being in a park outside posted hours is a violation of SLMC Administrative Code Ch. A7. Enforced as an infraction under SLMC §1-2-205: first offense up to $100, second within 12 months $200, additional offenses up to $500 (Gov. Code §36900). Vehicles parked in park lots after closing may be towed at owner expense. Repeat or aggravated violations (vandalism, alcohol, trespass) escalate to misdemeanor charges under Cal. Penal Code §602.
