Full Breakdown

Under Chapter 25, the city manager sets operating hours for all city park and playground facilities, and each entrance is posted with a sign stating open and closed hours. Remaining in, entering, or trespassing on a public park or playground during posted closed hours is unlawful. Utility workers, firefighters, and peace officers acting within the scope of their jobs have a defense to prosecution. The police chief can also close a park for up to 12 hours during an emergency to protect public safety, and the City Council sets any additional park curfews by resolution, which do not apply to Parks and Leisure Services Department events.

Violations & Fines

Class C misdemeanor citation for remaining in a city park or playground after posted closing hours.
