Temple, TX Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 37-106(b) of the Temple Code of Ordinances is written as a prohibition with a single permitted use. No person may stop, stand, or park a vehicle in a place marked as a loading zone "for any purpose or length of time" other than the expeditious unloading and delivery, or pickup and loading, of property. That wording leaves no grace period. A vehicle that stops in the zone for something other than loading is in violation right away, not after a set number of minutes.

The rule applies "during hours when the provisions applicable to such zones are in effect." The transportation director sets loading-zone locations and posts signs or yellow curb markings showing those hours, so the posting on a given Temple block controls when the restriction applies.

Even a legitimate loading stop has a ceiling. The code says that in no case may the stop exceed thirty (30) minutes. The word "expeditious" adds a further condition: the loading has to be carried out promptly. The 30 minutes is an outer limit for active loading, not a guaranteed allowance for a vehicle sitting idle in the zone.

Temple provides a path for longer stays. The city manager can issue permits letting construction vehicles park longer in loading zones. Drivers who overstay without that permission face a citation for each additional 30-minute period, which means a long overstay can produce more than a single citation.
