Privacy fences on single-family lots may not exceed 6 feet, while rear-yard duplex fences may reach 8 feet. Front-yard ornamental metal fencing is capped at 4 feet above sidewalk.
Cedar Park's design standards (Chapter 14, Division 6) regulate fence height by zone and yard location. Privacy fences on single-family residential lots must be located at least 10 feet behind the front elevation of the principal building and shall not exceed six (6) feet in height above grade. Fences required to enclose the rear yards of two-family/duplex residences shall be a minimum of four (4) feet and a maximum of eight (8) feet in height. In the front yard, only ornamental metal fencing (and retaining walls) is permitted, and it may not exceed four (4) feet in height above the sidewalk. Nonresidential fences shall be a minimum of six (6) feet and a maximum of eight (8) feet in height unless otherwise required.
Fence violations are enforced by Cedar Park Code Compliance under Chapter 1, Article 1.01 general penalty (up to $500 per day, or up to $2,000 per day for health/safety/sanitation violations). Each day a noncompliant fence remains is a separate offense; removal or modification may be required.
