Frisco, TX Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

City code section 18-484 governs fences in every residential zoning district except the agricultural (A) district. 1, a fence in the rear yard or along a rear lot line cannot exceed eight feet; decorative gate embellishments may add up to two feet of height and two feet of width beyond the gate itself. Side yard fences are capped at the same eight-foot limit. 2 limits front-yard fencing to forty-eight inches, requires at least fifty percent transparency, and bars vertical posts or gates from rising more than four inches above the fence line.

A decorative gate taller than four feet in the front yard needs sign-off from the building official. Key lots carry their own rule: a see-through tubular steel or wrought-iron fence up to eight feet may sit as close as five feet from the corner side property line, while a solid fence up to eight feet must hold the front-yard setback line. 8, including up to six inches of grade allowance, four inches of post projection, and twelve inches for columns; building a berm just to gain height is not allowed.

4: thirty feet from the point where property lines meet if there is no curb, expanding to a forty-by-forty-foot triangle at a major thoroughfare. Section 18-482 separately makes it unlawful to maintain any fence on a corner lot that creates a traffic hazard or restricts visibility, with the owner required to remove the obstruction once notified.
