MMC Chapter 17.46 (Fences and Walls) establishes that fences in the front yard or side yard of a corner lot may not exceed 3 feet in height. Backyard and interior side yard fences may be up to 7 feet. Fence height is measured from the lowest finished grade at the base of the fence to the top edge of the fence material. When a fence is placed atop a landscape wall, the combined height counts toward the total. Commercial and industrial uses adjacent to residential zones must provide masonry screening walls with a minimum 7-foot height. HOA CC&Rs may impose additional restrictions.
