Flower Mound, TX Fence Regulations: Material Restrictions (2026)

Flower Mound imposes fence material restrictions through Sec. 98-1142 and the Cross Timbers Conservation Development District regulations. In the CTCDD scenic roadway overlay, only multi-railed or pipe-style fencing is permitted, in approved colors of white, black, dark green, or earth tones. Wood stockade fencing and solid masonry perimeter walls are prohibited along CTCDD scenic corridors to preserve the rural character of the Cross Timbers landscape. Chain link fencing is restricted from street-facing applications in most residential areas. Standard residential zones outside the CTCDD generally allow wood, masonry, wrought iron, ornamental metal, and composite materials. Many HOAs impose additional material restrictions, typically requiring cedar, masonry columns with wood or iron panels, or wrought-iron style fencing for uniformity within the development. Vinyl or PVC fencing is permitted by the town code in most districts but may be prohibited by individual HOA CC&Rs. Wire mesh and welded wire are generally limited to agricultural zones and rear yard applications not visible from the street.
