Under the Uniform Construction Code Act (N.J.S.A. 52:27D-119 et seq.) and N.J.A.C. 5:23, New Jersey adopts the International Building Code and International Residential Code statewide. Municipalities cannot waive or substantively alter these technical requirements; they may only enforce them through their construction office.
