Sec. 6-8005(2) sets the noise and hours standard for high-impact media production permits, those running 15 or more consecutive days or involving disruptive activity such as pyrotechnics or stunts. Normal activity hours are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, with preparation and wrap-up confined to within one hour of that window, and noise generally kept to a minimum. Any activity planned outside those hours that involves noise exceeding 65 decibels at a distance of 100 feet from its source must be specifically addressed in the permit application.

Where the activity is planned within 500 feet of a residential area outside the normal hours, or will exceed the 65-decibel threshold, the applicant must give residents notice by the best means available as far in advance as reasonable. The same 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. window and minimal-noise standard also governs low-impact permits, for shoots of 14 days or fewer, under Sec. 6-8004(2), though that shorter-duration category carries no specific decibel figure or notice trigger. Both noise standards sit inside the chapter's broader general standards, which also require lighting to be oriented away from neighboring properties and any temporary signage to be approved in advance (Sec. 6-8003(c)).
