Linden, NJ Filming & Production: Street Closures (2026)

Section 35-10 lists the full fee schedule for permits issued under Chapter 35, and its street-closure tier is the steepest item on it. f, closing a street to accommodate filming costs $1,000 per day where fewer than 10,000 residents are affected and $5,000 per day where more than 10,000 residents are affected, a population-based structure aimed at heavier compensation where a closure disrupts more of the City. That fee stacks on top of the other charges in the same section: a $100 one-time base filming permit (or $200 if the applicant requests expedited processing instead of the standard four-business-day lead time under § 35-3), plus a $150-per-day filming fee for shoots entirely on public property, or $500 per day for a major motion picture as defined in § 35-1.

Beyond the fee itself, any street closure still has to satisfy § 35-3's underlying conditions before a permit issues: proof of liability insurance, a written indemnification agreement protecting the City, and, if the Chief of Police requires it, an off-duty police officer paid for by the applicant. Section 35-9 adds that the applicant must also reimburse the City for lost revenue the closure causes, such as forgone parking-meter income or repairs to public property damaged during the closure.
