Bergenfield, NJ Filming & Production: Student Filming (2026)

Section 149-4 sets four fee tiers for a Chapter 149 filming permit: $200 per day for filming on private property, $500 per day on public property, $50 per day for a nonprofit entity, and, under § 149-4D, just $25 per day for filming by a student or students. Bergenfield amended these fees on May 15, 2007 by Ordinance No. 07-2390, replacing an earlier schedule. The discount does not exempt student filmmakers from the rest of Chapter 149: they still apply through the Borough Clerk's office under § 149-2B, still need one permit for each location under § 149-2C, still need the written consent of the property owner or tenant for private-property shoots under § 149-2F, and are still capped at four filming days per year in a residential zone under § 149-3A absent a waiver from the Mayor and Council under § 149-3I. -or-sundown window in residential zones under § 149-3F. News filming, student or otherwise, is separately exempt from the whole chapter under § 149-6.
