Henderson, NV Fire Regulations: Brush Clearance (2026)

Henderson Municipal Code Title 8 (Public Peace and Safety) and Title 14 (Zoning) require property owners to control weeds, dead vegetation, tumbleweeds, and combustible debris that pose fire hazards. In designated WUI areas including MacDonald Highlands, Anthem, Inspirada, Tuscany, and neighborhoods abutting BLM land, Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, or McCullough Mountains, owners must maintain a minimum 30-foot defensible space Zone 1 (non-combustible) around all structures, with a fuel-reduction Zone 2 extending to 100 feet where the parcel allows. Native desert landscaping is encouraged but dead creosote, dried bermuda grass, palm skirts, and accumulated tumbleweeds must be removed. Henderson Fire Department and Code Enforcement conduct annual WUI inspections typically May through June before peak fire season. Nevada Revised Statutes 477.030 adopts the International Fire Code, and Henderson amends Chapter 49 (Wildland-Urban Interface). Palm tree skirting (dead fronds) must be trimmed annually as these are extreme fire hazards during dry Mojave summers.
