Henderson Municipal Code Title 7 requires dogs to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet off the owner premises, except in designated off-leash dog parks. Dogs over 4 months must also be licensed and rabies-vaccinated.
Henderson Municipal Code Title 7 (Animals) requires every dog to be under the direct control of a competent person via a leash no longer than 6 feet whenever the dog is off the owner or keeper premises, except when inside a designated off-leash dog park. Henderson operates several off-leash parks including Acacia Park Dog Park, All American Dog Park, and Anthem Hills Park Dog Park where dogs may run loose inside the fenced enclosure. Outside those enclosures, even in open space and trail areas like the River Mountains Loop Trail and Sloan Canyon, dogs must be leashed. All dogs and cats over 4 months must be licensed with the city under HMC Chapter 7.04 and carry current rabies vaccination. Henderson Animal Protection Services enforces leash and licensing, responds to at-large dogs, and maintains the Henderson Animal Care and Control facility. Fines escalate for repeat offenses.
Dog at large: citation and impoundment under HMC Title 7. No license: separate fine. Bite while off-leash: may trigger dangerous-dog determination under NRS 202.487.
