Henderson Municipal Code Title 7 generally prohibits chickens and livestock on standard residential lots. Only RR rural-ranch and estate-zoned parcels allow limited hens with setbacks. Roosters are banned citywide.
Henderson Municipal Code Title 7 (Animals) and Title 19 (Development Code) restrict keeping of chickens, ducks, goats, horses, and other livestock to specific zoning districts. On standard single-family residential lots under half an acre (the vast majority of Henderson parcels in Green Valley, Inspirada, Anthem, Cadence, and similar master-planned areas), chickens and other fowl are generally prohibited. Lots in RR (rural ranch) or estate zoning districts, primarily in parts of Anthem Country Club, Calico Ridge, and unincorporated-adjacent pockets, may keep a limited number of hens provided coops are set back at least 20 feet from property lines and any dwelling, kept sanitary, and free of odor and pest problems. Roosters are prohibited citywide in all residential zones because of noise. Horses require minimum acreage (often 1 acre per horse) and are restricted to equestrian-zoned neighborhoods such as parts of MacDonald Ranch. HOAs usually ban all livestock regardless of zoning.
Prohibited animals: citation, required removal, daily fines under HMC Title 7. Rooster: animal noise citation plus removal order. HOA violation: separate architectural fines.
