All fireworks are prohibited within Corpus Christi city limits including beaches. Fines reach $2,000 per opened package. TX Occ. Code 2154 allows use in unincorporated areas only.
Corpus Christi strictly prohibits the discharge, sale, and possession of fireworks within city limits. This ban covers all types of fireworks including sparklers, firecrackers, Roman candles, and aerial devices. The prohibition extends to all city beach areas. Fines for violations reach up to $2,000 for each opened package of fireworks found in a person's possession, meaning multiple packages can result in cumulative fines. While Texas Occupations Code Chapter 2154 permits fireworks sales and use in unincorporated areas during designated periods (June 24 through July 4 and December 20 through January 1), Corpus Christi exercises its authority under state law to ban them within city boundaries. Residents who wish to use fireworks legally must travel outside the city limits to unincorporated Nueces County areas. The Corpus Christi Police Department enforces the ban and residents should report illegal fireworks to the non-emergency line at (361) 886-2677. The city hosts official fireworks displays at events like the Fourth of July celebration at Bayfront Park.
Up to $2,000 fine per opened package of fireworks. Multiple packages mean cumulative fines. Confiscation of all fireworks. Potential Class C misdemeanor charges.
