Putnam County, FL Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Sec. 29-3 of the Parks and Recreation chapter lists activities that are unlawful in any Putnam County park or designated park area unless a permit has been issued under the chapter or the activity is authorized by the department director; parents and guardians are responsible for violations committed by minors in their care. Subsection (d) singles out fireworks and explosives: possessing, exploding, discharging, or burning firecrackers, rockets, or other fireworks or explosives, or any other substance that becomes explosive when combined with another substance, is prohibited both on park property itself and on the roadways adjacent to it.

The department can authorize the activity, so a permitted fireworks display is possible with prior department sign-off, and the section separately preserves the ability to discharge distress signals and flares in an emergency. The same chapter bans open fires outside designated areas or authorized containers (Sec. 29-3(a)(3)) and personal grills in parks already equipped with cooking grills (Sec. 29-3(a)(4)), rules that sit alongside the fireworks ban because both concern open flame and combustion on park property. Violations of Sec. 29-3 are enforced by Parks and Recreation Department staff and law enforcement officers as civil infractions under the chapter's general enforcement section, which covers the whole of the chapter originally adopted as chapter 46 and renumbered into the Code as chapter 29.
