Putnam County, FL Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 45-564 requires each retail store, storage warehouse, wholesale establishment, industrial plant, factory, freight terminal, merchant, restaurant, mortuary, laundry, dry cleaning establishment or similar use to provide off-street loading facilities sized under Table 7.07D, which scales the number of required spaces to the building's gross square footage, plus a separate scaling standard for auditoriums, hotels, hospitals and similar large-assembly uses over 10,000 square feet. Location is split by vehicle size under subsection (b): loading for a standard delivery van or car that fits a 12-foot by 40-foot space must sit within the off-street parking facility, at the location closest to the point of entry it serves, while loading docks meant for vehicles bigger than that footprint have to go in the rear or side yard, arranged so they do not interfere with or encroach into required parking spaces and access aisles, and screened and buffered under the county's buffering standards in LDC Article VII, Division 3.

Fractional space counts round up to the next whole number under (a)(3), and for a use not specifically listed, Planning and Development Services picks the closest comparable use to set the requirement under (a)(4). Loading requirements are computed separately from off-street parking; area used to satisfy loading cannot double as required parking, and vice versa, per § 45-566(k)(7).
