Stedman, NC Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Section 69.04(G), titled 'Firearms, fireworks, golf balls etc.,' groups three separate prohibited activities inside Stedman's town-owned parks and recreation areas. The first bars anyone except a law enforcement officer on duty from carrying firearms or dangerous weapons of any nature, and the list reaches beyond real guns to archery equipment, air rifles, toy pistols, toy guns, and any other toy arm designed to forcibly hurl a projectile or missile, language broad enough to cover slingshots and similar toys. The second sentence states plainly that the use of fireworks of any type is expressly prohibited, with no exception for permits, holidays, or written town permission, unlike the personal-grill exception the same chapter allows under Section 69.04(H).

The third bars hitting golf balls anywhere in a public recreation area. Because the section is written into Chapter 69's park-conduct rules rather than a stand-alone fireworks ordinance, its reach is limited to Stedman Ernest Freeman Park and other town recreation property; the code does not carry a separate town-wide fireworks sale or discharge ban outside park boundaries. Enforcement follows the rest of Chapter 69: Section 69.05(A) lets a Stedman Police Department officer or an authorized town employee eject a violator and bar future park use, Section 69.05(B) makes the violation a misdemeanor under G.S.

14-4 with up to $1,000 in fines and thirty days in jail, and Section 69.05(C) adds a $500 civil penalty per offense, doubling the exposure for anyone who sets off fireworks on park grounds.
