Twin Falls County, ID Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Twin Falls County Code chapter 5-5 splits fireworks into two categories. 'Dangerous fireworks,' defined in section 5-5-1 to include firecrackers, cherry bombs, skyrockets, Roman candles, and similar explosive or aerial devices, are unlawful to possess, keep, store, or use anywhere in the county under section 5-5-2 unless the user holds a valid public display permit. 'Safe and sane fireworks,' a narrower list including cone and cylindrical fountains under specific gram limits, short sparklers, snakes without mercury, wheels, and low-composition whistles, may be sold under section 5-5-3 only from noon on June 15 through midnight on July 5 each year, and only by a permit holder.

Both the safe-and-sane sale permit and the public display permit are obtained, per sections 5-5-3 and 5-5-4, by applying to the City Fire Department or fire protection district with jurisdiction over the area where the sale or display will occur, not the county courthouse directly. Section 5-5-5 lets the Board of County Commissioners revoke any fireworks permit for a violation of law or ordinance committed by the permittee in connection with fireworks. Section 5-5-6 makes any violation of the fireworks chapter a misdemeanor, fined as set out in the general penalty section 1-4-1 of the county code.
