Under Anne Arundel County Health Department open fire guidance, recreational fires (campfires, bonfires, fire pits) limited to 1 cubic yard or less of clean natural wood and cooking fires on residential property are permitted without a license. Space heating outdoor devices are also allowed without a license. Leaf burning is prohibited — yard waste collection is available year-round. Large-scale open fires (agriculture, large recreational events, religious or ceremonial purposes) require a county license from Housing Protection Services.
