Layton, UT Fire Regulations: Wildfire Zones (2026)

10 of Title 16 adopts the 2024 International Wildland-Urban Interface Code by reference as a Layton construction code, most recently amended by Ordinance No. 26-14 on May 21, 2026, following Ordinance No. 25-26 on December 18, 2025 and earlier adoptions in 2010 and 2019. The adoption carries three appendices into force: Appendix A's general requirements, Appendix B's vegetation management plan, and Appendix C's fire hazard severity form used to classify parcels. 5 of the Fire Prevention Code requires an automatic residential fire sprinkler system for any home in the interface area that also fails to meet the minimum county wildfire ordinance standard set by Utah Code § 65A-8-203(4)(1) and Utah Administrative Code R652-122-1300.

Layton does not print a separate zone map or acreage table in its own code; it incorporates the state construction code's Wildland-Urban Interface classification wholesale and layers the sprinkler consequence on top of it. Because the underlying interface boundary is set by the state-adopted code rather than local ordinance text, a property owner must check the adopted map and fire hazard severity form referenced in Appendix C, not a Layton-drafted overlay district, to know whether a given parcel is inside the interface.
