Taylorsville, UT Fire Regulations: Wildfire Zones (2026)

Section 15.08.060 of Taylorsville City Code adopts the Utah Wildland Urban Interface Code, issued by the International Code Council with the alternatives and amendments the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands has approved, as a binding construction code alongside the state-adopted International Building Code. Section 15.08.070 then adopts Exhibit A, a map that draws the boundary between property Taylorsville classifies as high-risk wildland-urban interface property and property that is wildland-urban interface but not high-risk. Both sections were added by Ordinance 25-15 on December 17, 2025, making this one of the newest chapters in Title 15.

Because the WUI code is layered onto the IBC rather than replacing it, a home or business built inside the high-risk boundary Exhibit A defines must satisfy both the standard IBC permit and inspection process the building official administers under section 15.08.010, and the WUI code's added fire-resistant construction requirements, before Community Development signs off. Property owners near the Jordan River Parkway corridor and other wildland-adjacent parcels on the city's west side are the parcels most likely to fall inside the mapped high-risk boundary. The map itself is exhibited as an image attachment to the ordinance rather than a table of legal descriptions, so a parcel's status is confirmed by consulting Exhibit A through the building official's office rather than by a written address list in the code text.
