Farmersville, TX Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Under Sec. 32-24(c), a mobile food unit cannot legally sell in Farmersville without a mobile food establishment permit, and that permit does not run on a rolling one-year clock like a standard restaurant permit. Instead the city issues two fixed terms each year: a permit taken out between January 1 and June 30 expires June 30 regardless of when it was purchased, and one taken out in the second half of the year expires December 31 regardless of purchase date, with no fee proration after the first month of either period.

Every mobile food unit must also operate out of a central preparation facility, sometimes called a commissary, or another permitted food establishment, and must report there daily for supplies, cleaning and servicing; Sec. 32-24(c) expressly bars using a private residence as that commissary. If the truck relies on a commissary, the operator needs a separate central preparation facility permit in addition to the mobile unit permit. Applications, filed in person at Farmersville City Hall, 205 S. Main Street, must include a valid driver's license, proof of insurance covering the unit, a route schedule, a notarized letter from the commissary, and the commissary's latest inspection report.

Because mobile units are food establishments under Sec. 32-24(a), they are also subject to the article's certificate-of-occupancy prerequisite, its inspection schedule, and its demerit-based re-inspection system under Sec. 32-25.
