Fort Collins, CO Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

City Code § 15-382(a) makes it unlawful for any outdoor vendor, including a mobile food truck operator, to do business in the City without first obtaining a license under the Outdoor Vendors Article. Under § 15-383, the application must reach the Financial Officer at least five working days before the first day of proposed operation; a license runs up to 12 months and expires December 31 regardless of issuance date. Section 15-384 lists required application contents: the applicant's name and address, the type of operation and goods sold, a description of the vehicle including size, color and license plate, proposed hours and days of operation, the address of every location including public right-of-way spots, written consent of any private property owner, proof of liability insurance, a site plan for private-property locations, a current sales and use tax license from the State, County and City, and for food vendors specifically, documentation of retail food establishment approval from the County health authority.

Section 15-385 requires the Financial Officer to review a complete application within five working days, weighing traffic congestion, proximity to existing street fixtures, and impact on the location, and to obtain the Zoning Administrator's determination that the use conforms to the Land Use Code before approval. 5 rather than fixed in the Code text.
