Section 105.6.30 of the 2018 International Fire Code, as adopted and amended by St. Louis Revised Code Chapter 25.06, makes an operational permit mandatory for mobile food vehicles and trailers, enforced by the Division of Building and Inspection Fire Safety Unit rather than the health department. The standard operational permit fee is $50 under Fire Code Section 105.6 plus a $25 application fee, per Table 113.1, and permits are inspected and generally renewed annually unless the table says otherwise. Trucks that cook with LP-gas aboard also fall under Section 105.6.27's LP-gas permit rules, though an exception covers gas used for cooking under Section 319.8. This permit is separate from any health department food-service license.
