West Bloomfield, MI Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

West Bloomfield Township Code § 17-35 makes it unlawful to engage in mobile food vending, defined by § 17-34 as selling food, beverages or frozen confections from a catering truck, food trailer, ice cream truck, pushcart or similar unit, without first obtaining the annual license and complying with Division 3 of Chapter 17. The license is nontransferable, must be displayed near the unit's service window, and expires every January 31 regardless of issue date. Section 17-36 requires the same personal background documentation as a peddler permit (§ 17-4) plus a copy of the vendor's driver's license and auto liability insurance, the state Special Transitory Food Unit (STFU) license, a current-year county health department inspection, a current-year township fire marshal inspection, proof of $1,000,000 general liability insurance naming the township as additional insured, an ICHAT-based criminal history disclosure, and a nonrefundable license fee set by Township Board resolution.

Section 17-37 lets the clerk deny an application for an impaired-driving conviction within three years, a felony within seven years of release, or a sex offense against a minor within seven years, and § 17-38 lets the township revoke a license for the same convictions, a health-law violation, refusing an inspection, or a material misrepresentation, with a Township Board appeal available on written request. Frozen or refrigerated products must come from properly working refrigerated trucks approved by both the county health department and the township (§ 17-40).
