Jackson, NJ Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Township Code Section 310-5, Vending regulations, governs any vending unit operating on Jackson's streets and sidewalks. Vending is permitted only between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., and every unit must be off the streets and sidewalks between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Units must be mobile at all times, cannot be left unattended, and no vendor may claim an exclusive right to a location or vend from a permanent public spot. Vendors must stay at least 200 feet from any school, church, synagogue, or other house of worship while it is in session, and at least 500 feet from any other vendor or established merchant's location.

Food and beverage vendors must keep a litter receptacle available to the public and collect all litter before leaving. Vendors also cannot sell anything beyond what their registration describes, and cannot operate anywhere that would unreasonably impede traffic or create a public nuisance. Section 310-9 layers on a health requirement: food and beverage vendors must comply with all standards set by the Ocean County Board of Health and give the Township copies of their inspection certificates. The Jackson Township Police Department enforces the chapter under Section 310-8, and Section 310-11 sets penalties at up to $1,250 for a first offense, up to 90 days in county jail for repeat offenses, and permanent license revocation.
