Tustin, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Section 3333 confines sidewalk vendors to sidewalks, banning operation on medians or landscaped rights-of-way, and requires anyone selling food or drinks to hold a business license, a sidewalk vending permit issued under Section 3337, and a health department permit before vending; merchandise vendors need the license and vending permit plus any other required permit, such as a secondhand dealer permit for used goods. Vendors must carry ID and display the permit and license while vending, keep a ten-foot trash-free radius around their cart, and never chain a cart to a pole, sign or tree.

Section 3333(G) lists fixed setbacks: 500 feet from any freeway ramp, 100 feet from intersections and crosswalks, 50 feet from fire hydrants, bus stops, driveways or another vendor, 15 feet from a business entrance, and a full ban on the sidewalk next to Tustin's Civic Center. Carts cannot exceed six feet of combined length, tents and generators are barred, and an optional umbrella is capped at eight feet in height and diameter. Alcohol, marijuana, tobacco and vaping products cannot be sold, sound amplification is barred, and vendors must stay present whenever goods are on display.

Section 3337 permits run one year, are non-transferable, and a vendor whose permit is revoked cannot reapply for a year; police, health, fire and code enforcement staff may inspect a vendor's operation at any time.
