" Vending is prohibited within a city park and on the streets adjacent to or bordering one; from a publicly owned parking lot or a metered or controlled parking space without permission from the Parking Authority; within 100 feet of any elementary or secondary school property during school hours; on any sidewalk less than six feet wide; within 50 feet of a police or fire station driveway, or 15 feet of any other driveway; within 15 feet of a bus stop zone, a pedestrian crosswalk, or a handicapped parking space or access ramp; on private property without the owner's and Zoning Office's written approval; on a sidewalk six feet or wider without the property owner's approval, Zoning Office sign-off and any needed encroachment permit; and inside a residential zoning district, except for motor food vehicles whose operators have written permission from the Director of Community and Economic Development.
Section 626-8 adds citywide operating limits on top of the location bans: only food and fresh-cut flowers may be sold absent written permission, hours of operation are set by the Director, and merchants may not vend in front of their own storefront without an exception. A-B.
Violations & Fines
Vending in a barred location is enforced the same way as any Chapter 626 violation: a violation ticket carries a $100 fine, rising to a $25 penalty if unpaid after 10 days, and converts to a summary citation of $100 to $1,000 per offense (or up to 90 days in jail) if unpaid after 20 days. A location violation is also independent grounds for the City to suspend or revoke the vendor's license under Section 626-12.
