Baldwin Park, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

02 of the Baldwin Park Municipal Code lists exact distances that keep sidewalk vendors away from specific locations rather than banning vending citywide. Subsection (A) bars vending within 25 feet of an intersection, traffic signal, railroad crossing or controlled crosswalk, and forbids vending in any area that would block traffic or parking. Subsection (D) bars vending in a school zone or within 500 feet of a school during loading and unloading times, or at any time children are present. Subsection (E) bars vending in any residential zoned area entirely, with one exception: a roaming sidewalk vendor who keeps moving, vends from the sidewalk, does not block traffic or parking, and does not sell to customers in moving vehicles may still pass through.

Subsection (M) adds five more fixed setbacks: no vending on a designated bicycle or vehicular pathway, within 50 feet of a bus stop or shelter, within 25 feet of a fire hydrant, within 25 feet of a driveway approach, or within 18 inches of the curb edge. Subsection (Q) adds a 1,000-foot buffer around any city special event, farmers market, street fair, concert, or similar venue, and around any activity operating under a temporary use permit such as filming or a parade. Together these zone rules, not a citywide license cap, are what decide where in Baldwin Park a sidewalk vendor can actually set up.
