Bayonne, NJ Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Bayonne City Code § 21-33.7 bars a peddler, hawker or vendor from parking or stopping a vehicle, wagon or sales equipment in a commercial zone, or making any sale there, unless the equipment is legally parked for a reason unrelated to selling. The section then carves out exceptions: vendors selling food or beverages for immediate consumption may sell in a commercial zone as long as their equipment is parked or stopped only while a sale is underway, and vendors may sell in a zone during a parade on the day it runs, again only while actively selling.

Outside commercial zones, § 21-33.7 still bars a sale made within 400 feet of another permanently established business already selling similar items. Separate distance buffers protect City property: no peddler may sell inside, or within 100 feet of the property line of, the municipal building, the centralized garage, the library, any firehouse or any other City-owned building. Two named recreation sites carry their own 100-foot buffers: the Municipal Pool on West 16th Street during its open season, measured from the pool's fenced perimeter, a restriction the Code says effectively bars all food and beverage sales in the upper 16th Street Park complex during pool season while leaving the lower level unaffected, and the fenced perimeter of the Don Ahearn Veteran's Stadium, where peddlers are also strictly barred from the Stadium's parking lot whenever a game or organized activity is underway. Inside City parks generally, § 21-33.7(e) requires peddlers to keep a 50-foot vehicle distance from each other for traffic and pedestrian safety.
