Carrollton, TX Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Article 29, Section E of the April 2026 Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance lists food trucks, food trailers, and food service facilities as a special-conditions use, added by Ordinance 3763 in 2016 and amended through Ordinance 3980 in 2020. The use is permitted only in Transit Center (TC) zoning districts, nowhere else in the city, and only where the underlying property already carries a restaurant or an operating brewery as its primary certificated use; food service facilities specifically require a brewery, not just any restaurant.

The ordinance caps density at two food trucks or food service facilities per brewery property, in any combination, and ties their hours directly to the brewery's own hours of operation, so a truck cannot stay open after the brewery closes. Trucks must park on a paved concrete or asphalt pad meeting the city's General Design Standards, must have access to an on-site restroom during operating hours, and must provide dedicated trash receptacles. Outdoor seating tied to the truck has to sit on the same property as the restaurant or brewery and cannot occupy required parking spaces.

The zoning ordinance also bans amplified audio, bells, chimes, strobe or spotlights, and any similar disturbance from the food truck operation, along with drive-through service and free-standing signage. Grease, waste, or wash water cannot be dumped into storm drains, streets, or the sanitary sewer without a proper connection approved by Public Works.
