Richardson, TX Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 12-121(g) forbids mobile food vending on any public street that is not residential in character or that carries four or more marked traffic lanes, steering trucks away from busy arterials. On streets that are residential, subsection (h) lets a vendor stop only in direct response to a customer's request and for no more than 15 minutes at a time, so trucks cannot simply park and wait for business in a neighborhood. Vending on private property is governed separately by subsection (i): it must happen in a non-residential zoning district, listed by name as LRM(1), LR-M(2), C-M, O-M, I-M(1), I-M(2), IP-M(1), I-FP(1), I-FP(2), TO-M or PD, and must operate as an accessory use that serves the employees and patrons of the property's primary business rather than pulling in traffic from the street.
