Under Sec. 13-1, RVs, boats, trailers, and similar vehicles may not be stored in front yards or on streets without a temporary permit. On-street permits are issued for up to 14 days. RVs may be parked in side or rear yards if screened by a 6-foot fence or landscaping.
Section 13-1 of the Richardson Code comprehensively regulates recreational vehicle parking. RVs (Class A, B, C, 5th wheelers, campers), boats, jet skis, trailers, and similar equipment may not be parked in front yards between the building and front property line, or in corner lot side yards. Parking on vacant or unimproved property is prohibited. RVs may be parked in side or rear yards if screened from street view by a wood fence at least 6 feet high or by a landscaping screen wall of shrubs at least 3 feet high that will reach 6 feet or the vehicle height at maturity. Temporary on-street parking permits may be issued for up to 14 days per Sec. 13-1(g). Temporary loading/unloading is allowed up to 4 times per year (72-hour periods) per Sec. 13-1(h)(1). Temporary parking on property is allowed up to 4 times per year for up to 7 consecutive days per Sec. 13-1(h)(2).
