Richardson Code Section 13-1(b) makes it unlawful for owners or occupants of residential, duplex, or apartment property to permit parking or storing of motor vehicles, trucks, or motorcycles on vacant or unimproved property, within the front yard between the building wall and front property line, or in the side yard of corner lots between the building wall and side property line without locating on an approved parking surface. Section 13-1(d) reiterates that motor vehicles may not be parked on the same areas on vacant or unimproved property without approved parking surfaces. This effectively prohibits parking on grass, dirt, or gravel in front and side yards.
Violations result in Code Enforcement citations with fines up to $2,000 per occurrence. Vehicles may be towed from unapproved surfaces.
