Full Breakdown

Under City Code § 10-685(a), food trucks may not vend on public property or in the right-of-way without a special event permit. On private property open to the public, a truck may operate with the property owner's permission. Private, invitation-only events face no added siting rule, but sales to the public on residentially zoned property are flatly not permitted regardless of permission.

Violations & Fines

Vending on public property or the right-of-way without a special event permit, or selling to the public on residentially zoned land, is a code violation enforceable by the city; repeated violations can jeopardize the operator's food truck permit under Article XIX.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a food truck sell to the public from a house in a residential zone?
No. Section 10-685(a)(3) bars public sales on residentially zoned property, even with the owner's consent.
